Which formats are supported?

This extractor is powered by libarchive compiled to WebAssembly — the same battle-tested library behind many desktop archive managers. It opens .rar (both RAR4 and RAR5), .7z, .tar, and tarballs compressed with gzip (.tar.gz, .tgz), bzip2 (.tar.bz2) or xz (.tar.xz). Plain .zip, plus zip-based formats like .jar, .apk and .zipx, work too.

Why katlab's extractor is different

Most "online extractor" sites upload your archive to their servers to unpack it. This one doesn't. Extraction happens inside your browser tab using WebAssembly. Your files never touch the network, so there's nothing to leak, cache, or delete later. Want proof? Turn off your Wi-Fi after the page loads — the tool still works.

Is it really private?

Yes. There is no upload step and no account. You can open your browser's network tab and watch: no request carries your file data. The tool works offline once the page has loaded.

Can it open password-protected archives?

Encrypted RAR and 7z archives are detected, but decrypting them needs the password, which this tool doesn't currently prompt for. Unencrypted archives extract normally.

Is there a size limit?

There's no artificial cap. Because the archive is unpacked in memory, the real limit is your device's available RAM — comfortable for everyday downloads and fine for most large archives too.
