How to convert MOBI to EPUB

  1. Drop your .mobi, .azw or .prc files onto the box above, or click it to pick them.
  2. Each book is read, rebuilt as EPUB and shown in the preview.
  3. Download each .epub file, or click Download all for one ZIP.

What comes across

The text, chapters, images, table of contents, title and author. MOBI files store formatting in old Kindle markup, which is rewritten as standard CSS, and internal links that MOBI files often break are repaired, so the EPUB is clean rather than a wrapper around the old file.

MOBI vs EPUB

MOBI is Amazon's old format and only Kindles read it. EPUB is the open standard used by almost every other reader and app. Amazon has also stopped accepting MOBI through Send to Kindle, while it does accept EPUB.

Newer Kindle files

Kindle books in AZW3 or KFX format work here too; see AZW3 to EPUB.

DRM

This works with DRM-free books: public-domain downloads, files from publishers that sell without copy protection, and your own books. Books protected by DRM are recognised and refused with a clear message; the tool does not remove DRM.

Is my book uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in this page with open-source engines compiled to WebAssembly. The engine downloads once the first time you convert and your browser caches it. Your files never leave your device, and there is no account or file-size quota. The Kindle reader is boko.

Why does it say my book is protected?

The file has DRM. Books bought from the Kindle store usually do. Only DRM-free books can be converted.

Can I convert the EPUB further?

Yes. The same page converts it on to Kobo KEPUB, PDF, Markdown or text: change the format in the settings and every book converts again.
