How to convert AZW3 to EPUB

  1. Drop your .azw3, .azw or .kfx files onto the box above, or click it to pick them.
  2. Each book is read, rebuilt as EPUB and shown in the preview.
  3. Download each .epub file, or click Download all for one ZIP.

What comes across

The text, chapters, images, table of contents, title and author. Kindle-specific markup is rewritten as standard CSS and broken internal links are repaired along the way.

AZW3 and KFX

AZW3, also called KF8, is the Kindle format that replaced MOBI. KFX is the newest Kindle format. Both are read here, as long as the book is DRM-free. For the older MOBI format, see MOBI to EPUB.

Going the other way

To put an EPUB on a Kindle, Send to Kindle accepts EPUB directly. For copying over USB, the Ebook Converter also writes AZW3 (marked experimental).

DRM

Books bought from the Kindle store are usually DRM-protected and cannot be converted. The tool recognises them and says so; it does not remove DRM.

Is my book uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in this page with open-source engines compiled to WebAssembly. The engine downloads once the first time you convert and your browser caches it. Your files never leave your device, and there is no account or file-size quota. The Kindle reader is boko.

Do I need Calibre?

No. The conversion runs in your browser with nothing to install, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.

Why does it say my book is protected?

The file has DRM, which Kindle store purchases usually do. Only DRM-free books can be converted.
