PDFs can be locked two different ways. An owner password (permissions password) leaves the file readable but blocks printing, copying text or editing. Those restrictions are enforced by software, not by encryption, so this tool removes them with no password required.
An open password (user password) actually encrypts the file so it can't be opened at all without the password. This tool can remove an open password only when you type the correct one — it decrypts the file you already have the key to. It cannot crack, guess or recover a password you don't know: modern PDF encryption is AES, and brute-forcing it is not feasible. This is a genuine unlocker, not a password cracker.
The tool ships QPDF compiled to WebAssembly and runs entirely inside your browser tab. Your PDF — and any password you enter — never leave your device: there is nothing to upload, cache on a server, or delete later. That matters, because password-protected PDFs are usually the sensitive ones: bank statements, payslips, contracts.
Removing restrictions from a document you own or are authorised to use is a normal task. Please only unlock files you have the right to access.
