Watermark PDF · Text, Logo, Per Recipient

Stamp CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, your own text or a logo across a PDF, or make one personalised copy for every person you send it to.

PDFs are processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to watermark a PDF

  1. Drop one or more PDFs onto the box above.
  2. Pick a text such as CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT, type your own, or choose an image. The preview shows the real result.
  3. Choose centred or tiled, the opacity, and whether it goes on top of or behind the content.
  4. Click Add watermark and save the PDF or the ZIP.

One copy per recipient

Sending a document to several people? Paste their names, one per line, and put {name} in the watermark, for example "Prepared for {name} · {date}". Every person gets their own copy, the ZIP includes a list of who received which file, and if a copy turns up where it shouldn't, the watermark shows whose it was.

On top or behind

On top is drawn over everything with a multiply blend, so it tints the page instead of covering it, and text underneath stays readable. Behind is how Word places watermarks: under the text and pictures, so it never hides anything, but it is invisible on scanned pages, which are one opaque image.

Small files, any page layout

The watermark is stored once for each page size and reused on every page, so a 500-page PDF only grows by a few kilobytes. Rotated, landscape and mixed-size pages get an upright, centred watermark, and PDFs with editing restrictions are handled. Signed PDFs get a warning, because any change invalidates the signature.

Frequently asked questions

Can a watermark be removed?

Someone with PDF editing software can remove a visible watermark. It deters casual sharing and shows where a copy came from, but it is not copy protection.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The watermark is added in your browser tab and nothing is sent anywhere.
