Why EXIF metadata matters for privacy

Photos taken on phones and cameras embed EXIF data: the exact GPS coordinates where the shot was taken, the date and time, and the device make and model. When you post that photo online, anyone can read it — potentially revealing your home address or daily routine. Removing EXIF before sharing closes that leak.

Lossless for JPG and PNG

For JPEG and PNG, this tool removes only the metadata segments (EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments) and copies the compressed image data unchanged, so there is no quality loss and colors stay accurate because the ICC color profile is kept. WebP and other formats are re-encoded, which may recompress slightly.

Is it really private?

Yes — and it has to be. Uploading a photo to a server to remove its GPS data would defeat the purpose. Here everything happens inside your browser tab; open the network tab and you'll see no request carries your image. The tool works offline once loaded.
