How to remove background noise
- Drop an audio or video file onto the box above.
- Make a 15-second preview and switch between before and after. Lower the strength if the voice starts to sound thin.

A neural noise suppressor, made for voices
The cleaning is done by RNNoise, a small neural network from the Xiph.Org Foundation trained to tell speech from noise. It removes steady and changing background sound such as fans, air conditioning, traffic, wind, keyboard clatter and microphone hiss, frame by frame, while keeping the voice. It is designed for speech; on music it may remove instruments too.
The strength slider mixes the cleaned sound with the original, because full removal can make a voice sound slightly processed. "Remove low rumble" cuts handling noise and traffic below 80 Hz, and "even out the loudness" brings quiet and loud passages closer together, useful for interviews.
Videos stay untouched
For MP4 and MOV videos only the sound track is cleaned and put back into the file; the picture is copied byte for byte, so the quality stays the same and even long, large recordings work. Other video formats are repackaged with the picture copied as well.

What kind of noise does it remove?
Steady and semi-steady background sound behind a voice. It is trained on speech, so music, ambience and applause count as noise too, and it does not remove other voices or echo from a large room. "Removed noise" in the preview lets you hear exactly what is taken out.
